More Homebuyers are Heading to This Part of the Country When They Move
You’d be jumping for joy, too if sunshine and palm trees were going to be part of your new life.
More Americans prefer to head south when moving out of state.
That’s according to a new study by LendingTree of over 2 million new purchase mortgage loan requests.
The focus was on where people moving out of state were going.
Florida is the number 1 destination for homebuyers planning to move across state lines.
But LendingTree points out South Carolina took the top spot when the numbers were adjusted for population size.
That’s because mortgage loan requests were 52% greater than would be expected based on the Palmetto State’s population, according to MarketWatch.
Some more findings.
More people want to get out of Alaska than any other state, as The Last Frontier has the most residents looking to move away.
On the flip side, residents don’t seem to want to leave the Lone Star State.
Just over 93% of purchase mortgage requests from folks in Texas were for homes in the same state; the highest percentage in the country.
Texas is also a top destination for out of state movers.
When people do move out of state, they don’t want to go far.
LendingTree says more than half of the most popular new destination states border the current state someone lives in.
But if they are moving far away, chances are it’s to Florida.
Trading the snow for sand doesn’t sound like a bad idea!
